Genschs: Vote for Kolbe

As the final election for Aspen City Council draws closer and as some issues still don’t have clarity or closure, I again express my support for Emily Kolbe.
In my earlier letter, I urged voters to elect council members on their personal integrity and capacity rather than their stand on any issue. Doesn’t our national political scene shout that fact to us? People of high intelligence and integrity, with deep understanding of what drives our myriad components of society, with courage to both stand firm and yet to adjust when more facts become clear … these people will lift our communities and our nation to a higher level. Issues are attention-grabbing. They are what we talk and think about … what keeps us awake at night.
Yet service to a community on city council is about so much more than issues. Please look at the big picture of what this position asks of someone. It’s a lot. It asks for dedication to what’s best for the citizens on every level imaginable.
Cast your vote for Kolbe. Given her life story of having been a child, a student, a parent, and a business owner in Aspen, her high level of education and intelligence, her tenacity and courage, and her capacity to be an enthusiastic team player as well as a strong leader, we couldn’t ever do better than having here as our spokesperson and guardian of Aspen’s essence — past, present, and future.
Thank you.
