A holiday letter to the Aspen School District community

Editor’s note: An artificial intelligence elf assisted ASD Superintendent Tharyn Mulberry in the writing of this poem.

*’Twas the holiday season, and all through ASD,
The halls were alive with the buzz of IB!
This year brought triumphs, some big and some small,
Each one is a reflection of effort from all.
A new Superintendent arrived on the scene,
Excited to serve and pursue every dream.
With IB for All as our guiding light,
Our students are soaring, their futures so bright.
At AMS, the Spelling Bee reached sixteen rounds,
With words flying fast, and cheers that astound.
The Robotics Team earned their global acclaim,
Off to the World Championships to stake their claim.
At AES, young historians brought the past near,
With their Living Museum, they made history clear.
And student-led conferences showed parents the way,
Through the eyes of their children on a memorable day.
The AMS school paper, with high schooler guides,
Brought stories to life with talent and pride.
AHS shone with Anything Goes,
A five-star production that everyone knows.
AMS saw clubs rise — more than twenty in all,
From coding to chess, students answered the call.
And Hope Squad at AHS spreads kindness each day,
With compassion and care lighting the way.
Recess Heroes kept little ones safe as they played,
And jazz bands and choirs made our days.
Best Buddies created friendships so real,
Through shared laughter and the kindness we feel.
We found a bear in the café (don’t worry, he left!),
But the smiles he brought are a treasured heft.
National Merit Scholars, NHS stars,
Our students are shooting for the moon and the stars.

Aspen schools, a place of light,
Where students learn, and futures are bright.
The Aspen Education Foundation and
Aspen Public Education Foundation — they are so great.
Provide amazing support, sealing students’ fate.
Student-athletes played like champions, so bold,
Their efforts and triumphs are a sight to behold.
At AES, students ran laps for FUN,
Chasing dreams under the winter sun.
The ASD Board of Education, now two members new,
Bring fresh ideas to guide the crew.
Aspen Family Connections, a beacon so bright,
The best resource center, a guiding light.
School buses moved through traffic with ease,
Carrying students safely is a sight to please.
AHS students treated the Cottage kiddos with care,
to a Halloween party — if they dare.
Aspen schools spread joy through the year,

Alpine Bank sent piggy banks, financial literacy and good cheer.

Journalism, FBLA, and CTE,
Showed excellence and brought pride to ASD.
Fourth graders wrote plays of revolution and grit,
Proving creativity is alive and well-lit.
We welcomed Otto, our Deputy so grand,
And campuses refreshed across the land.
With Little Nell lunches and laughter abound,
The joy of connection is everywhere found.
Cell phones set aside, conversations renewed,
At AHS and AMS, a mindful attitude.
Bobsleds and basketball brought fun galore,
As teachers triumphed, keeping their score.
So as we reflect on a year filled with cheer,
Let’s give thanks for the magic we’ve built here.
To parents and students, to staff far and near,
You’re the heart of ASD, our reason each year.
Here’s to more laughter, more learning, and grace,

In 2025, let’s set the pace!
