Daniel Delano, Glen Stewart, and Jesse Amory position a new solar-powered electric vehicle charging station at Aspen Community School on Monday. The system, installed by Woody Creek-founded SkyHook Solar, will quadruple the solar capacity and electric storage of the previous station and can charge two cars simultaneously.

One of the oldest, solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations for a Woody Creek-founded company was replaced at Aspen Community School on Monday.

The old system, installed in 2021 by Skyhook Solar, makes way for a newer system that can quadruple the solar capacity and electric storage. It can also charge two cars simultaneously, giving vehicles up to 50-mile charges from the station’s solar-generated energy in a day.

The new solar station at Aspen Community School has photovoltaic cells underneath the canopy to catch albedo emanating from snow for energy.
