Skier dies after hitting tree at Winter Park Resort

A skier has died after hitting a tree at Winter Park Resort on Tuesday, March 18.

Winter Park Ski Patrol responded to the incident after receiving a call at about 10:52 a.m., according to a news release from the Fraser Winter Park Police Department.

The news release states that the male victim struck the tree on Lupin, an intermediate/advanced trail, which leads to Lunch Rock on the Mary Jane side of the resort.



Those on the scene initiated CPR before ski patrol arrived and attempted resuscitation with assistance from Grand County Emergency Medical Services. Ski patrol then transported the man to Denver Health Winter Park Medical Center at the base of the resort.

The victim, a 20-year-old from Kansas, was pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet, according to the release.
