Results: Audi Power of Four skimo race returns to Aspen ski hills

The Audi Power of Four ski mountaineering race returned to the local ski hills on Saturday. Beginning in Snowmass Village at 6 a.m., racers would go up and over all four of the Aspen Skiing Company ski areas, finishing at the base of Aspen Mountain.
Skimo, as it’s known, is a sport that combines aspects of both Alpine and Nordic skiing, and in some cases even more technical climbing skills. It will make its debut as an Olympic sport at the 2026 Winter Games in Italy.
In the men’s Power of Four on Saturday, Joseph DeMoor and Jacob Dewey took the win in 4 hours, 43 minutes, and 18 seconds. Logan Greydanus and Davide Giardini were second (4:45:44), and the team of Matt Fox and Ricky Creel were third (4:53:06).
The women’s Power of Four winners were Kristin Lidman and Nikki LaRochelle in 5:44:24. Coming in second were Morgan Roche and Kelsey Bilsback (6:49:15), while Jenna Read and Jenya Berino were third (7:11:09).
The co-ed Power of Four champions were Elliott Bates and Lindsay Plant in 5:50:29. In second were Sophia Gorman and Jackson Long (5:56:05), and in third were Katherine Keel and David Taft (6:39:41).
Tim Faia and Dirk Friel teamed up to win the veterans division (45-plus) in 6:31:51.
There was also a Power of Two race option, which took athletes over Aspen Highlands and Aspen Mountain, and left out the Snowmass and Buttermilk legs.
Taking the men’s crown were Pete Gaston and George Beck in 3:28:03. In second were Michael Paulus and Max Taam (3:36:38), and in third were Pete Swenson and Max Swenson (4:58:04).

The women’s Power of Two winners were Amanda Makowiecki and Melissa Estep in 5:48:59. In second were Hays Wick and Molly Gaylord (6:14:38), and in third were Carlie Umbarger and Torrey Dill (6:53:00).
The co-ed Power of Two winners were Constance Delannoy and Alexis Dubois in 5:47:46. In second were Chloe Couvreux and Chris Lindner (6:42:55), and in third were Patrick Ryan and Harper Ryan (6:56:59).
Mike Dannelley and John Potter (6:57:41) paired to win the veterans division. The Power of Two also included a cadet division (17 and under), won by Ethan Kushto and Dante Humphrey (6:57:41). In second were Katja Brown and Owen Verner (7:29:57).

A total of $5,000 was handed out to race winners. First place in both the men’s and women’s Power of Four open divisions won $1,500, with second place awarded $700, and third place winning $300.
