Crew mitigates hazmat incident after propane gas truck rolled over near Marble
Crews continued to mitigate a hazmat incident on Friday night after a propane gas truck rolled over near Marble.
The crash, which happened near Chair Mountain Ranch around 11 a.m., Friday, prompted an evacuation order for residents of Evergreen Lane. Shelter-in-place orders were also implemented for residents of Nub, Alpine, and Aspen streets as well as Gulch Way.
According to Carbondale Rural and Fire Protection District Division Public Information Officer Jenny Cutright, the truck ended up on the side of a hill, against a tree. It had an active leak that was vaporizing from the vehicle, according to Colorado State Patrol.
Cutright confirmed the vehicle did not crash into the Crystal River.
“It (was) not in the river,” she said. “There (was) no immediate threat to any waterway.”
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
She said hazmat crews will continued to clear the site for several hours Friday night. The vehicle will be pulled out from the scene Saturday morning.
