PHOTOS: Closing season gets underway with Bacon Day at Buttermilk

Welcome to closing season in Aspen, where the snow conditions don’t matter and the party goes all weekend.
On Sunday, Buttermilk Ski Area became the first area hill to call it quits for the season with its annual Bacon Day (Hopefully, you got there early to partake). A sizeable crowd gathered for bacon, music, and good vibes under a mostly sunny sky.
This coming Sunday, April 13, is the annual closing day party put on by the Alehouse at Aspen Highlands. It’ll also be the last chance for any lift-assisted bowl laps this side of the summer solstice.
Both Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will close up shop the following weekend, with that Sunday happening to be 4/20. The popular Elk Camp Surf and Snow Beach Party will return to Snowmass the day prior, on Saturday, April 19.
