Gordon Forbes

Gordon Forbes died peacefully at Colorado State Veteran’s Nursing Home in Rifle on Aug. 22, 2009, after a brief illness at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a longtime Aspen and Carbondale resident of 52 years, author, decorated World War II Navy pilot, jazz musician, world traveler, part-owner of the first Chinese restaurant – The House of Lum – in Aspen, language teacher, avid skier and a hiker. Gordon’s three great loves were his wife Greta, Santa Barbara and Aspen.
He is survived by his wife, Greta, of 42 years, 9 children, 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
