Gear Review: Women’s ski fashion
Girls just wanna have fun with fashion — and they want to do the same as skiers or snowboarders, which is where these functional and fashionable items come into play.
Ski Like a Girl Hoodie
When I moved to the Colorado mountains two months after I turned 19, all I wanted to do was ski like a guy — except my ponytail flying in the wind. Times have changed since then: A helmet hides my hair, and now, as it turns out, it’s super cool to ski like a girl because we can pretty much send it like the boys can. Enter Ski Like a Girl, an incredibly fun line of clothing and accessories sporting graphics of long hair flying in the wind, emerging from goggles. My navy blue Ski Like a Girl tie-dye hoodie is extremely comfortable; I wear it after skiing and love it, especially the graphic and “Ski Like a Girl” words flowing down my left arm. Hoodies and long-sleeve T-shirts come in a variety of background colors and colored graphics. The company has a great mission of “inspiring ski, shred ,and board girls to be strong, smart, and bold girls.” Accessories include hats and headbands – the latter of which come only in girls’ sizes.

Krimson Klover Après Anyone Base Layer Top
I just love how Krimson Klover incorporates fun, fashion, and function into its graphic base layers. This moisture-wicking and odor-control base layer is perfect to ski in all day and then go out afterward, kick back, and still look stylish. Its UPF 50+ protects skin from ultraviolet rays while you’re hanging out on the mountain during those spring days that beg you to take your coat off and bask in the sun while enjoying a burger. Meanwhile, the four-way stretch of its recycled poly provides a soft and comfortable fit. Its warm, substantial fabric is still lightweight and very comfortable to wear. Krimson Klover offers a variety of retro ski designs in its quarter-zip base layer, including ones with gondolas, several skiers, cross-country skiers, a woman and her Bernie, and various mountainscapes.

Zenzee Cashmere Crewneck Tie-Dye Sweater
Zenzee uses the power of fashion “to help women be at their best and achieve their dreams.” Founder Sharon Backurz grew up in Steamboat Springs, and after working as a graphic designer in New York City, San Francisco, and Seattle, she moved to Park City, where her family has been for 14 years — so she truly understands ski culture and mountain fashion. Zenzee employs buttery soft cashmere in its tie-dye sweaters, combining comfort with small-batch tie-dyed garments, so each one is unique. Each piece is made with love — in the spirit of #WearHappy — and when you slip on your cozy cashmere, you slide into that oh-so-comfortable zone. The boyfriend crewneck includes ribbed detailing at the collar, hem, and wrists and balances slouch and sophistication quite nicely. It goes great with everything from jeans to a silk skirt. Plus, the expertly-spun 100% Mongolian cashmere is sustainably made.

Nathan Women’s Navigator Hybrid Vest
This lightweight vest keeps runners and outdoor enthusiasts warm and comfortable whether you wear it as an outer or inner layer. I wear it skiing over a fleece on extremely cold days, and I appreciate that it doesn’t bulk up my jacket — or my movement. Meanwhile, its water-resistant and windproof, insulated front panel maintains a comfortable temperature while running, cross-country skiing, or walking/hiking. The back and sides feature water-resistant panels with four-way stretch woven fabric. The slightly longer length covers the hips and includes an adjustable drawcord that holds the jacket in place during high-endurance sports. The vest has a flattering fit, and its reflective logo increases visibility while running or walking in low light. Zippered pockets inside and out add to their flexibility as the perfect layer for any outdoor adventure.

‘We cannot legislate morals’: Colorado Parks and Wildlife stands firm on mountain lion hunting, despite pleas from wildlife advocates
In Colorado, hounds are the predominant method of hunting used for mountain lions. Hounds allow hunters to be more selective and effective.
