English in Action to host ‘Fiesta de Tamales’ fundraiser

A Roaring Fork Valley nonprofit that builds community and intercultural relationships through language development hosts an annual fundraiser this weekend.

Bringing together hundreds of community members from different backgrounds for an authentic celebration of the diverse cultural traditions that coexist in the Roaring Fork Valley, English In Action is slated to host its Fiesta de Tamales event from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at The Orchard in Carbondale, 110 Snowmass Drive.

The Fiesta is a fun and affordable fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly to support English In Action’s mission to help adults learn English and foster a more cohesive community, according to a news release.

Admission to the Fiesta includes a homemade tamale meal; entertainment by Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Folklórico and Mezcla Socials Dance; DJ music courtesy of Joeli Villa; piñatas for the kids; arts and crafts from The Art Base, plus prize drawings for $1,000 cash, a 4-Season Mountain Adventure Package from Aspen Snowmass, and a classic BMW Z3 convertible. Admission tickets are $35/adult and $15/child and are available online or at the door. Advance tickets are recommended as the event often sells out! Prize Drawing tickets from $10 each are also available in advance or at the event.

“For many in our Valley, the Fiesta de Tamales represents a unique opportunity to socialize across cultural divides,” Lara Beaulieu, executive director of English In Action, said in the release. “It’s a truly delightful event for the whole family. English In Action students, tutors, their families, and community members get together for a festive night of good food and dynamic entertainment.”
