Aspen’s Mactoberfest returns Saturday to Restaurant Row
The city of Aspen’s Special Events department is set to host the second annual Mactoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Restaurant Row, East Hopkins Avenue, between Monarch and Mill Streets.
The Mac and Cheese Festival was originally founded in 2010 by longtime local and City of Aspen Recreation employee, the late Keith Bulicz. After a seven-year hiatus, the city brought back the beloved event in 2023.
This year’s celebration will once again showcase the Ultimate Mac and Cheese Showdown, where local restaurants will compete to create the most delicious and creative mac and cheese dishes.
Attendees, alongside renowned food expert Laura Werlin, known as Aspen’s “Cheese Lady,” will judge the competitors and select the winning dish.
Last year, nearly a thousand people gathered along Restaurant Row to witness a competitive showdown between some of the valley’s top culinary talents, and the city is hoping to see a similar turnout.
The event is free and open to the public, with alcohol available for purchase. Proceeds from alcohol sales will benefit the Mother Pucker’s Hockey team.
