This ski season rings of a past era in many ways, with the quieter scene on the slopes and around town as we all navigate our way through COVID. With indoor dining at reduced capacity earlier this winter and now inaccessible under code Red, there are more casual seating arrangements for dining outside to go with mobile ordering from the on-mountain restaurants or brown bagging it for lunch. There still is a surge in recreation with the uphill community, Nordic skiers and fat tire bikers. The NASTAR courses at Aspen and Snowmass are open daily and remain a fun way to enjoy some friendly competition against yourself and friends. It’s great to see all the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard winter programs still underway, making it possible to get 2,400 local kids on snow. Another bonus this season is the updated Skico app — better than ever with events and activity listings, trail maps, parking info, base crowding status and tracking every lap on Highland Bowl – great for setting goals!
Colorado biologists caught 3 rare Colorado pikeminnows. What does that mean for the future of this critically endangered fish?
In October, Colorado Parks and Wildlife biologists were conducting a routine fish survey on the Colorado River when they made an extremely rare catch.
